Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health
Teaching and research in paediatrics at the University of Sydney is based primarily at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW), which is one of the world’s most modern and technically sophisticated hospitals, combining high quality technology with innovative, award-winning building design. The hospital provides a comprehensive child-focussed, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation service. A high emphasis is placed on education and research.
The majority of medical students at the University of Sydney attend the Children’s Hospital at Westmead as part of their paediatric medicine and surgery rotation and we have 10-12 Pre-Internship placements per year. We also provide elective placements for students from other medical schools in Australia and overseas.
